Back At It

So it's been almost a year since I last posted here. A fair bit has happened since then, including but not limited to:

-saying my last good-bye to my childhood home
-saying my last good-bye to my grandmother
-lots of traveling, from Scotland to Lake Tahoe to Seattle to Texas to Harry Potter World
-finishing the second novel in the Red Queen series
-releasing the first novel in the Red Queen series
-somehow debuting at #1 on the New York Times Bestseller and subsequently gaining an epitaph for my future tombstone
-making some real writer friends/realizing I don't have to be friends with everyone
-meeting more people than I ever thought would read something I wrote, let alone pay to do it
-and I learned a whole hell of a lot about myself, the publishing industry, and how I fit into it

*I also spent and will continue to spend the majority of my time freaking out over Star Wars VII*

I'm hoping to keep up with this blog a bit more than I have in the past (how many times have I said that). I think the best way to do so is to keep to short blogs, little updates about me and whatever I'm obsessing over at the time. Feel free to ask any questions here, Twitter, or Tumblr, and if they require long answers or it's a common question, maybe I'll do a post. I say maybe because I'm a flake and I don't want to misrepresent.

Currently: hungry, recovering from Sunday's episode of Game of Thrones. RIP Barry.

Reading: just finished Winter of the World by Ken Follett. Will be starting the sequel Edge of Eternity.

Working on: copy edits for book #2 submitted, drafting novella #1, fiddling with things

*there will be spoilers for Game of Thrones (the show)*

Summary: thank you thank you thank you for tolerating me, reading Red Queen, and loving it the way so many of you have!

  2. I wrote a reply and I don't know if it posted or not but I just wanted to say I loved your book, I read it in a day and a half because I could only put it down long enough to sleep just so my eyes would focus again, its amazing and had me crying so much at the end because I felt like I could relate with Mare even though I really can't, but I'm so excited for the second book, you're an amazing writer ❤❤

  3. I just finished your book --after having read it for 8 hours straight--and I loved every second of it. I've never been surprised, pleasantly and frustratingly, so many times in almost 400 pages. You took my emotions and played with them perfectly and I've never been so happy to let someone. Like everyone else who has read your work, I can't wait for more. Thank you :)

  6. Loved your book Victoria!!! I couldn't put it down. I go though books a mile a minute, so my mom was at the bookstore and by sheer chance she looked at it and was like, "Huh, she might like this." I read it, fell in LOVE with it, and now me and all my friends are obsessed with it. I can't wait to hear what happens next! Heard there was a movie coming out... not sure if it's true. If it is, please tell me! Hope movie producers don't ruin it. 0_0 ~starts muttering profanities towards makers of the percy jackson movies~

  8. You know what, you really are my best writer. I love how you constructed the outline and story of the Red Queen. It's just sad knowing that War Crowns will be the last book series of it :---( But thanks tho for bringing me happiness upon reading your books. You're really great that you're multitasking, :) Yeah, i do that too most of the time.
